Michael Young Limited Edition Art Deco Prints

Michael's interest in art began as a child, but his formal art training did not begin until he went to art school in Salina, Kansas. After graduating, he worked in several architectural art studios and studied portrait painting. He then opened his own studio, painting portraits, murals and many other types of artwork. Young moved to New York City in 1978 where he studied at the prestigious Art Student's League, the training ground for so many of America's great painters and sculptors. At the same time, he was a studio artist for Red Rose Art and Andrew Kolb & Sons Gallery on Madison Avenue. Young felt he made an artistic breakthrough with his private instruction with Bill Weltman, a teacher of drawing and anatomy classes which enabled Young to master the figure. This time in his life proved to be very valuable in his future career. Young has had one-man shows with prestigious galleries from Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Carmel, Maui, Boston, Chicago and New York City. Young has received tremendous response to his artwork, which is now included in many private and corporate collections both in North America and abroad. Longing to combine his talent and love of illustration with his fascination for the night life and fashions of the past, Michael created his unique style. It has been a natural evolution for him to paint subjects that evoke a strong and lively romantic statement with the people and places of America's nostalgic periods of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s |
